Covasna county lies in the central part of Romania and in the south-eastern part of the Transylvanian Depression. Its surface is 3705 square kms. Its neighbours are Harghita, Vrancea, Buzău and Brașov counties. The county is divided into 44 territorial-administrative units: 2 county residences, 3 cities and 39 communes. These include 123 villages out of which 12 communes and villages are dependent on the cities, namely Sfântu Gheorghe, Târgu Secuiesc, Covasna, Baraolt and Întorsura Buzăului.
